Each flower 3-to-4-centimeter (1-to-1+1⁄2-inch) in diameter. The five petaled flowers are group in an inflorescence consisting of a cyme with 4–6 flowers. The central flower of the inflorescence is called the "king bloom"; it opens first and can develop a larger fruit.

- Fruit Description: Pome that matures in late summer or autumn.[1] The size varies widely for apple trees, but generally with a diameter between 2.5 and 12 cm (1 and 4+3⁄4 in).The groundcolor of ripe apples is yellow, green, yellow-green or whitish yellow. The overcolor of ripe apples can be orange-red, pink-red, red, purple-red or brown-red. The overcolor amount can be 0–100%. The skin may also be wholly or partly russeted (i.e. rough and brown). The skin is covered in a protective layer of epicuticular wax. The exocarp (flesh) is generally pale yellowish-white, though pink, yellow or green exocarps also occur.

It boasts a Janka hardness of 1,730 lbf (7,700 N), modulus of rupture of 12,800 lbf/in² (88.3 MPa), elastic modulus of 1,270,000 lbf/in² (8.76 GPa), and crushing strength of 6,030 lbf/in² (41.6 MPa). The wood exhibits 5.6% radial, 10.1% tangential, and 17.6% volumetric shrinkage, with a T/R ratio of 1.8. Heartwood varies from light reddish or grayish brown to deeper red/brown, with a fine, uniform texture resembling Cherry. Apple wood is non-durable for heartwood decay, difficult to work due to high density, but glues, stains, finishes, and turns well. It has a faint, sweet scent when worked, and no significant health risks beyond standard wood dust. Rarely available in lumber form, it's expensive and used for fine furniture, tool handles, carving, and small specialty items. Apple wood is not listed in the CITES Appendices or IUCN Red List.

Apples are consumed in various forms, including raw, juiced, baked, and cooked into sauces or apple butter. They are also used in savory dishes and desserts. Preservation methods include drying and making apple butter, while commercially, juice and cider are significant products. Toffee apples (UK) or caramel apples (US) are popular confections. Apples are also milled for juice, which can be fermented into cider and other alcoholic beverages.
